School of Media Arts and Design
The School of Media Arts and Design is perceived as a national and international reference in the training of competitive, creative and innovative professionals, in the areas of Design, Film, Photography, Multimedia and Web.
As a cross-curricular school related to the Media Arts and Design, we seek the training of highly qualified professionals, the development of systematic skills and an artistic awareness in the following fields: audiovisual, photography, film, graphic design, industrial design, multimedia and web technologies.
Strong technical skills are associated to the artistic vocation of the author’s profile.
With a laboratory educational project, strongly oriented to employability, we invest in training environments favourable to innovation, creativity and excellence. We promote multidisciplinary collaboration and teamwork.
Located in the Campus 2 of Póvoa de Varzim / Vila do Conde of P.PORTO, sharing the facilities with the School of Hospitality and Tourism, ESMAD offers quality spaces and excellent equipment.
We are one of the most comprehensive, differentiated and award-winning training programs of the country.
The ESMAD programs have been widely awarded: MCA and TCM works received the award for Best Film School in Fantasporto 2016; awarded films in the Sophia Estudante 2016, 1st Prize of Visual Identity of the Vila do Conde municipality, courses selected in first by the Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual competition, including the projects carried out through the Artistic Residences of the Master’s program. Partner in the International Conference “On the Surface: Photography and Architecture”, partner of the European Center Photography Research, ECPR, among others.
