This access route stipulates the creation of special entrance competitions to Higher Education for students who have completed secondary education through vocational tracks and specialised artistic courses.
The Decree-Law defines that these students will take exams in the Higher Education institutions themselves to evaluate if they have the knowledge and competences considered indispensable for the entrance and progression in the study cycle, they are applying for.
Within the terms of this competition, the evaluation and seriation of candidates is carried out on the basis of cumulative criteria:
- The final classification of the course the applicant holds; - The classification of the final exam of the respective course; - The classification of the knowledge and competences assessment exam required by the Higher Education Institution to which the applicant applies. The application for enrolment and registration in institution/course pairs for which prerequisites are required is also subject to the satisfaction of these prerequisites.
The Polytechnic Institutes of the North - Polytechnic of Porto, Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave and Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, as well as the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro constitute the Northern Network to organise the knowledge and competence assessment tests that give access to their degree courses.
Registration for the exams is done at apnor.pt/profissionais. The application to the competition is made at a national level through the DGES website.
