The Porto Design Factory (PDF) - the collaborative platform for the creation of innovative ideas by P.PORTO - presented another Open Day With Industry. Based on an experimental education culture passion-based learning, PDF has been a test tube of the latest student-centered pedagogical practices, contributing significantly to the qualification of a new generation of innovators.
With the aim of revealing the ideas and projects that should enter the market in the next decade, PDF opened his doors to show the results of the answers to industrial challenges.
It is the end of a very academic year, a year of hard work, articulated with challenges proposed by companies such as IKEA Industry, Sonae MC, Worten, Philip Morris International or Nokia, with the involvement of partner universities and "an interdisciplinary methodology, internationally, with students from various scientific areas, from several schools of P.PORTO, but also from other cities and countries, "explains Rui Coutinho, coordinator of the courses.
Paulo Ferraz, coordinator of the Porto Design Factory, considered these were two very special days, in which the presence of the Economy Minister, Manuel Caldeira Cabral, and the Start Up Portugal team, who chose the PDF as a privileged space for presentation of the Road 2 Web Summit, preparatory event for the third edition of the Web Summit, to be held in November 2018 in Lisbon.
For Manuel Caldeira Cabral, Minister of Economy, only with knowledge, training and schools with these characteristics "it is possible to create more competitive and innovative companies, to create more value and better jobs". The minister, after intervening for assistance from students and entrepreneurs, had the opportunity to learn about the projects developed by the students of PDF. "It is very important to create a new entrepreneurial environment, to bring the younger ones, to involve the students, because they are the ones who can make a difference in tomorrow's companies," he concluded.
